What End of Life means for Adobe Commerce 2.4.0 – 2.4.3
The term End of Life, or End of Service, means the end of software support from the publisher, Adobe. This means security patches, performance improvements, and the rollout of new features from Adobe will cease. As a result, the vendor recommends updating to version 2.4.4 or higher to ensure stability and performance.
For merchants, this means their store running on 2.4.0 – 2.4.3 will continue working, but support and updates will no longer be available. This is because the publisher Adobe will only support recent versions. An update to newer versions is therefore necessary to ensure the security and stability of the store in the long term.
This article tells you what you need to keep in mind when updating and what you can do now if you are currently unable to update.
What is Extended Support for 2.4.0 – 2.4.3 about?
In general, support will be discontinued on November 28, 2022. For customers who still have stores running on these versions, Adobe offers the option to book extended support for an additional fee, which ensures an additional calendar year of support. extended support includes quality and security patches for the core application. With the limitation of extended support to a maximum of one calendar year, this option will finally expire on November 28, 2023.
The extended support option is intended for merchants who need more time to upgrade to higher versions and can not complete their store update in time for the End of Life deadline. However, it should be noted that extended support only applies to stores running on version 2.3.7 or 2.4.0-2.4.3 with PHP 7.4. Versions with PHP 7.3 are not covered by extended support. Therefore, it is important to note that merchants may need to take additional steps to remain PCI compliant. Adobe cannot provide support for all third-party technologies used in Adobe Commerce software, as they may expire during the extended support period. Adobe recommends affected merchants to work with a PCI auditor to ensure compliance. For more information on all third-party technologies tested and supported, see Adobe Commerce System Requirements.
